Snapshot 24w38a has just been released for Minecraft Java Edition, with significant changes, including the ability to colour pack and full world building features in Realms, including Hardcore mode. This update also includes numerous bug fixes, technical improvements and changes to the world building interface.
The main new features of update 24w38a are:
■ Dyeable kits: kits can now be dyed in 16 different shades using dyes, opening up a new opportunity to customise items.
■ Hardcore mode for Realms: Hardcore mode can now be activated in Realms, adding extra difficulty to common worlds.
■ Realms improvements: The Realms world creation screen now uses a full interface with the ability to customise game rules and data packs.
Bug fixes: A series of 25 bug fixes, including improvements to inventory management in creative mode, octopuses, and other important gameplay elements.

Colour packs
Bundles/bags, introduced as an experimental feature, can now be painted in 16 different colours. This adds an extra level of customisation to organising the items in your inventory.
Changes to Worlds
Realms has received some major improvements in this snapshot:
■ The world creation screen now uses a full interface similar to that of local worlds.
Players can customise game rules and use data packs directly in Realms.
Hardcore mode is now enabled, providing more intense gameplay in shared Realms.
Other changes.
■ Recipes for colouring sage boxes are now visible in the recipe book.
■ The action of throwing objects quickly in creative mode is now limited to avoid desynchronisation.

Technical changes
1. Version of the data package : The version of the data package will be changed to 54.
2. Resource packs version : The version of the resource packs has been updated to 39.
3. New Object Component: A new type of crafting recipe has been introduced - Crafting_transmute. It allows transmuting one object into another, while keeping its properties in the stack.
Technical details of changes
■ Kit model and textures now have 16 colour variations.
Updated the modelling of torches and blocks containing red stone torches.
■ Created a new inverted model that uses 6 separate faces to create a negative size effect.
Bugs in snapshot 24w38a have been fixed.
