Mod: Big Wolf [1.21+]

The Wolf Expansion modification for Minecraft PE (Bedrock) completely transforms wolves, making them much more diverse and useful. The mod introduces six different sizes grouped into three classes, each with unique abilities and appearances, ranging from small companions to massive rideable Alpha Wolves.

Features of the Big Wolf mod

This mod offers a deep rework of wolf-related mechanics and does not require enabling experimental features in Minecraft PE (Bedrock). It adds not only new sizes but also an advanced breeding system that allows you to deliberately breed larger wolves. In addition, a command system has been introduced, letting you give orders to pets either through gestures or via chat.

Wolf classes and sizes

All wolves in Minecraft PE (Bedrock) are now divided into three classes, which can be distinguished by their collars:

• Playful: The smallest wolves (sizes 1-2) with a regular collar. They can perform extra tricks such as "lie down" or "roll over".
• Helpful: Medium-sized wolves (3-4) that wear a bandana. They have abilities that assist the player.
• Protective: The largest wolves (5-6) with a spiked collar. Size 6 wolves are Alphas.

Breeding and finding in the wild

You can breed a wolf of the desired size yourself. A puppy’s size is the average of its parents’ sizes. For example, by breeding a size 1.0 wolf with a 1.4 wolf, you will get a 1.2 puppy. Sometimes a puppy may be born one size larger or smaller than expected, which allows you to gradually breed larger individuals. All wolf variants, including the rare Alpha, can also be found in the wild in Minecraft PE (Bedrock), but their spawn chance is low.

Alpha Wolf and its abilities

The Alpha Wolf (size 6) is the crown jewel of your breeding. Its appearance in the world is accompanied by a unique howl audible from a great distance. Alpha Wolves do not despawn. A tamed Alpha can be saddled and used as a fast mount in Minecraft PE (Bedrock). Only the owner can ride their Alpha — it will simply throw off strangers. In the wild, Alphas are hostile toward other Alpha Wolves.

Commands and interaction

You can give your wolves 6 different commands: "stand", "sit", "lie down", "roll left", "roll right", and "come". Commands can be given through gestures in Minecraft PE (Bedrock) (for example, quickly crouching 3 times to call a wolf) or by typing in chat (e.g., "!sit"). At night, Alpha Wolves may start howling, and other nearby wolves will join in, with the pitch of the howl depending on the wolf’s size.
